Travel

  • Program fee = approx. $4800-5,000 (exact fee for 2020 is yet to be fixed)

  • Airfare (variable: up to approx. $1,200)

  • Personal spending money (approx. $500)

Program fee includes: home stay (with two meals daily), Moldovan health/public health instruction at the university; 4 academic credits (Allegheny College); Romanian language instruction; in-country excursions; 24/7 emergency support; travel insurance (including standard health coverage); and transport from/to Chisinau airport. Note: A passport is required. No visa is necessary.

Note that, US citizens do NOT need visas to travel to Moldova.

The program fee does NOT include air travel, so participants are required to purchase their own air tickets. Students may travel independently to/from Moldova, or coordinate their flights in order to travel together.

American Councils arranges transport from Chisinau airport at the start of the program, as well as transport back to the airport at program’s end.

The program fee includes standard CISI travel and health insurance, with coverage commencing upon arrival at Chisinau airport, and terminating on departure from Chisinau airport. (Students who wish to have insurance coverage for the transatlantic journeys, or travel elsewhere in Europe, will need to make independent arrangements.)

The American Councils office has well-designed health and safety protocols, and provides 24/7 emergency support.
